Our Clinical Negligence & Personal Injury Enquiry Process

Making an Enquiry

There are several ways you can make an enquiry with GoodLaw. First of all, you can visit the ‘Contact’ tab on this website and fill the provided tabs in your details. Or you can use our ‘Live Chat’ to speak with someone who will gather initial information and pass your enquiry onto the clinical negligence and personal injury team.

We also have a dedicated website for clinical negligence enquiries, where you will be able to provide your details on the ‘Contact’ tab. Whilst on this website, you are able to view several articles which cover a wide range of injuries and potential claims.

Alternatively, you are able to contact our firm directly by email or telephone. Our contact details are as follows:

When emailing ourselves directly, please detail your enquiry type (clinical negligence or personal injury) in the subject line. Equally, feel free to be more specific (e.g. Cerebral Palsy Claim).

What to provide in your initial enquiry

When contacting GoodLaw regarding a clinical negligence or personal injury enquiry please provide the following information:

  • Your Full Name (if you are enquiring on behalf of someone else, then please provide their full name also)
  • Your Date of Birth (again, if you are enquiring on behalf of someone else, then please provide their date of birth)
  • Your contact details (email address and phone number)
  • The date of the alleged Clinical negligence or Personal injury
  • A summary of the events that have taken place

Next Steps

Once you have made an enquiry with us, it will be assigned to a member of our support staff in the clinical negligence and personal injury team. Once they have received your enquiry, they will be in contact via telephone to take an initial call for further information.

You can expect this call to take place within the same day of making your enquiry. If you miss this call and are not available, please do not worry, our member will leave you a voicemail or email you.

What you can expect at the initial call

During this initial call with a member of our support staff, you will have the opportunity to explain what has happened in further detail. Understandably, this may be hard for you to discuss, but please do not worry our team are experienced and knowledgeable in taking enquiries of this nature.

We may have further questions for you during the call. Please answer these to the best of your ability. However, if you do not know the answers to some questions, then please inform us.

If you have any documentation such as hospital letters or CCTV of the accident (if applicable), please inform our member as they may believe it would be beneficial for it to be added to your enquiry file.

Next steps after your initial call

Solicitor Review

Once we have taken your initial call, we will send a detailed description of what you have told us to our team of clinical negligence and personal injury solicitors.

Our team of solicitors will review your enquiry and decide whether this is something they are able to assist with.

If one of our solicitors is able to take on your case, they will be in contact with you directly to arrange an initial meeting. This meeting can be in person, by telephone or held remotely. At this meeting, our solicitor will gather further information from you and will explain the process of bringing a clinical negligence or personal injury claim.

If our team of solicitors are unable to assist you, then the person who took your initial call will be in contact with you via email to sign-post you elsewhere.

Whatever the outcome of your enquiry with GoodLaw is, we aim to be in contact within a week of your initial call.

Important information to note

When making a clinical negligence or personal injury enquiry with GoodLaw Solicitors it is important to note that we do not take on certain types of injury claims. Please see the list below for full details on the types on claims we do not take on:

  1. Blood Contamination Claims
  2. Covid-19 Claims
  3. Mesh and Hernia Claims

It is also important to note that when pursuing a clinical negligence or personal injury claim, there are strict time limits involved which is known as the ‘limitation period’.

In most cases, this period is 3 years from the date of the negligence or injury occurring or from the date you realised that negligence had occurred. If Court proceedings are not issued before the end of this 3-year period, then a claim may be barred by statute and may not proceed unless exceptional circumstances apply.

When we say ‘issuing a claim’, we do not simply mean consulting a solicitor. A claim must be commenced at the Court in order for it to be protected under the Limitation Act.

Please keep both of these points in mind when making an enquiry. If you are unsure of your limitation period or cannot find a solicitor specialising in the claims mentioned above, please do not hesitate to get in touch and we will do our best to help you.
