Jane Wells is a family lawyer and mediator with over 30 years of experience.

She is a specialist in children cases and represents both children and parents in care proceedings.

Jane has been a member of the Law Society Children Panel for over 20 years.

Jane represents clients in private law financial and children cases as well, and is friendly and approachable and aims to offer a high-quality service to all of her clients. She is also a past President of the Sussex Law Society.

Jane is a fully accredited Mediator trained by Resolution and can mediate on all issues both financial and child related. She also has a legal aid contract so can offer legally aided mediation for those who qualify.

Notable cases include:

• W (A Child) (No 1-4) 2016/2017
  In this case, Jane acted for a child in a high-profile adoption case which was heard in both the High Court and the Court of Appeal
• West Sussex County Council & Others v FM NP & T 2018 EWHC 1702 (Fam)
  This was a case about the interplay between care proceedings and a Forced Marriage application, and which involved 3 children who had been exposed to domestic and emotional abuse.
• West Sussex County Council v A and B (2020) EWFC B62
  This was a case in which two teenagers aged 13 and 17 were removed from the care of their parents for being overweight. Jane represented the youngest child.
